About Arlene
Arlene was born in India and moved to Canada at 18.
Her career path took her from unloading trucks at Woolco through a stint in a day care when she realized that ‘care work’ is ridiculously under valued. Her corporate career as a buyer in the giftware, home décor sector, had her traveling to Hong Kong and China managing clients such as Eaton’s, Sears, Second Cup, etc. This experience gifted her the exposure to higher level business strategy and visionary thinking, risk taking and most of all beginning with the ‘end’ in mind. This was a time of great personal growth into leadership and learning to stand side by side with her friends in the warehouse opening sample boxes and then throwing on a jacket to get to a meeting with the Director of A&P Stores for the next season’s product development.
Arlene is a late bloomer in many ways. She married her ‘nice guy,’ Brad at 33. They are a mixed marriage in every way but have deep core values in common – family, integrity, love & simplicity. After 18 years together, they still sneak motorcycle rides & pub dates!
Arlene always knew she had a bigger purpose in life.
Having children brought a great deal of clarity to what her soul came here to do. Guiding these two beautiful souls is a journey she treasures. As a parent, she recognizes that Ella & Scott that have been entrusted to her safe keeping for a short time. Her higher goal with her two sweeties would be to encourage them to become community leaders, world citizens and in turn follow their highest purpose.
The Hearn family all have a great sense of fun & adventure sailing, hiking, bicycling & horse back riding! Marvel movies seem to the be the topic of discussion at dinner most often with Arlene’s insistence that no matter what powers any other character has, Thor rules on his good looks alone!!!
Being a late bloomer has it’s gifts and while Arlene has a great deal of passion, perseverance & resilience to build her coaching practice and business, her family is always her priority.
Whether I was unloading trucks at Woolco or walking along Victoria Peak, I always knew I had a higher purpose.
The ‘far’ side to Arlene is that she is funny and easy going.
"Humour is my first strength so if there is only one thing I can guarantee, it will be that there will always be laughter in our dialogues. Bloody and Damn are two of my favourite swear words. I like fast cars and drive my minivan like it is a Lamborghini. I laugh at myself very easily and can find the humour in every situation. I am always up for adventure and at 50, I am still willing to climb trees. Getting back down the damn tree sure ain’t pretty!!! I will always say ‘yes’ to building sand castles and tobogganing but will always say ‘no’ to swimming!
I will always have to manage and maintain my mental wellness. Some tools that support me are nutrition, yoga, hiking and Emotional Freeing Techniques (tapping). My biggest success is moving from a ‘victim’ mindset to a ‘freedom’ mindset. I know now that I am free in every moment to choose how I think, feel and behave.
When I play it small, I can be irreverent and rough around the edges. And when I dig deeper into my highest self, I am a sage, warrior, and teacher with wisdom and vision beyond my years. I can come on strong when in protective mode and there is never a problem to big to be solved!”
